 Regarding financing

 

How can I become a sponsor?

By contributing an amount which is sufficient to finance at least one specific project:

Training an OMA

Training a cataract surgeon 

Building a well

Constructing  latrines

 
 

What is the minimum amount I should give?

There is no set mimimum, all contributions are welcome

Ophtalmologic Expeditions

Who pays for the trips of ophtalmologists, anesthetists and nurses?

From Spain to the capital of Etiopia, Addis Abeba, trips are paid by the doctors and the nurses themselves.

The domestic flights form Addis Abeba to Mekelle are included in the budget for "Welfare Activity " expenses.

 

Where do the ophtalmological expeditions stay?

  In the Daughters of  Charity's convent.

Compensation paid to the convent for the board and lodging is 25€ per person per week.

Can I join an expedition?

 

If you can contribute your knowledge and professional practise you must first discuss the convenience of the trip with Proyecto Vision'se Board of Directors, and the best time to travel.

University School of Eye Health

Who pays the teachers and for the school's maintencance?

Proyecto Visión, in accordance with the  established budget.

Who  looks after the to day running of the school?

The School's Director, Dr. Tilahum and the Health Bureau.

How are the future OMAs selected?

The Director of the School himself selects future OMAs amongst those who have passed the obligatory test.

 

Construction of wells and latrines

Who decides where the wells and latrines should be built?

The Water and Well Department of the Tigray Government

How do you know if there is water in the wells you want to build?

 They are perforated according to geological studies

 

Who guarantees the work and maintainance of the wells and latrines?

The Department of Water and Wells in agreement with the local municipality

 

How many inhabitants benefit from a well of potable water?

Approximately  9000.

Distribution of antibiotics

By whom and how are the antibiotics distributed?

Zitromax is given free of charge by Pfizer to the Government of Tigray. Distribution is carried out by local Health Bureau workers.

 

Is it possible to cure trachoma with antibiotics only?

No, Personal higiene is necessary too.

How many people is it expected will be treated with antibiotics? And how many people need them in Proyecto Visión's action area?

   For the eradication of trachoma: Wukro.

Ways to cooperate

Are my donations tax deductible?

Donations have a  tax relief, in Spain, a 25% both in Natural Person Tax and on Company Tax.

How is health education taught?

 By the School teachers, the Catholic Secretariat and the Wuckro health staff.
